Aural Films continues the epic project to document the Japanese Zodiac (Junishi) Animal Time with 24 hours of ambient music in a series of releases that will reflect all twelve of the signs.

The 11th release of our Junishi series is dedicated to Inu - Hour of the Dog. Inu reigns between 19h-21h in Japanese horology: the time when families gathered at home for supper and mutual comfort after a long day's work. the dog therefore stands for loyalty, familiar comfort, guarding home and peace among family members. Moreover, till today in Japan an ancient costume is obeyed by many pregnant women to pray for a good childbirth to get a lucky child: Inu no Hi ('day of the dog') - each 12th day of a month a 'dog day' - best, if coinciding with 'taian' ('day of peace'), to be attended at special shrines with offerings and prayers - normally at the 5th month of pregnancy. so, a child born at a 'dog day' and a 'day of peace' in the year of the dog (next: 2030) at the hour of the dog really must be a lucky dog!

The first hour of this album is special: entirely made of some excerpts courtesy of Alex Bainter's generative soundscape 'bhairav' (in tradition of indian raga), remixed, reworked and stretched.

Second hour - as usual - by Fabio Keiner on his well-trodden path of longform soundscaping.
